A Mentoring Approach: Student Centered—Results Oriented
Too many families approach the high school years as a sprint towards college, telling their teens: “you HAVE to do this, you HAVE to join that, you MUST increase your GPA to get into a good college.” The stakes feel incredibly high, the odds increasingly impossible.
Just stop. Take a breath.
The journey towards a great college and a successful and fulfilling work life is just that— a journey. There should be adventure, exploration, and fun along the way, as well as challenges and steep climbs. Teens are experiencing unprecedented levels of anxiety, depression, and mental health issues. They need positive, supportive coaching that helps them unlock their potential, not scare tactics and threats.

Students CAN stand out and excel in high school when they:
Identify a Zone of Genius
Harness Intellectual Curiosity
Pursue a Passion Project
Focus on Genuine Fit
Tell a Powerful Story
I guide students to take charge of their education, to think outside the box, to take risks, identify a problem they want to solve or a population they want to serve. When it comes time to apply to college, they then have a powerful story to tell full of passion and purpose.
The emotional and academic support from this mentoring approach delivers impressive gains in a student’s maturity, time management, executive function, concise writing, and public speaking skills to help them thrive in high school and in college.
